Nivesh Sahayak Cash bookFree cash book, bank book and day book with running balance

Free cash book: cash in hand, bank and day book, always up to date

The cash book fills itself from the bills, receipts, payments and expenses you already record, and shows cash in hand and your bank balance with a running balance after every entry. Add your opening cash once, note cash you deposit in or withdraw from the bank, and print the cash book, bank book or day book for any dates. Free, no login, and it stays in this browser.

How to use the cash book

  1. Add your business once. Your name, address and state are typed once in My data, so the books print with your details.
  2. Enter your opening cash. In "Cash and bank books" tap "Cash in hand on the start date", type the cash you counted and the date, for example 1 April. On the Bank book tab the same button sets your bank balance.
  3. Record money as it moves. Use "Money received", "Money paid" and "Expense". Every cash sale bill, receipt, voucher and expense saved in any Nivesh Sahayak tool also appears here by itself.
  4. Note cash taken to the bank. Tap "Cash and bank transfer" when you deposit cash in the bank or withdraw it. It moves money between the two books and is neither income nor expense.
  5. Read the books. "Cash book" shows cash in and out with a running balance; "Bank book" does the same for the bank and UPI; "Day book" lists every entry with the accounts it touches. Pick the dates at the top.
  6. Print or share. Print any book, save it as a PDF, or download a CSV file that opens in Excel for your accountant.

What it does for you

One set of books, many doors

Cash book is one part of the free Nivesh Sahayak App. Everything you enter here is kept in this browser on this device, in the same data home as the app and every Nivesh Sahayak document maker (my.niveshsahayak.in). Bills made on the billing site show up here by themselves, and entries made here show up in the app. There is no account and nothing is uploaded to us.

Keep a backup. If the browser's data is cleared, saved work in it is gone. Open My data (top of the page) and press Save a backup file now and then. One file holds every bill, payment, customer and supplier, and restores them on any other computer or phone.

Questions people ask

Is this cash book really free?

Yes. There is no login, no fee and no limit on entries. It runs in your browser and your data stays on your device.

Do I have to type every sale again?

No. Cash memos, invoices marked paid, receipts, vouchers, purchase bills and expenses made with any Nivesh Sahayak tool on this device are already in the cash book and bank book.

How do I start with the cash I already have?

In "Cash and bank books" tap "Cash in hand on the start date", type the cash you counted and the date. On the Bank book tab the same button sets the bank balance.

Where do UPI payments go?

UPI, card and bank transfers go to the bank book. Cheques go there on the day you mark them cleared.

Why does it warn about a minus cash balance?

You cannot pay out more cash than you have, so a balance below zero means a receipt is missing or an amount is wrong. Check the entries around the date where it turns negative.

Can my accountant get the books?

Yes. Print the cash book, bank book or day book, share it as a PDF, or download a CSV file that opens in Excel.
